The UK Graduate Visa allows international students who have completed an eligible course at a UK higher education provider to stay in the UK for two years after graduation (or three years for doctoral graduates) to work, look for work, or explore career opportunities. This visa falls under the UK Immigration Rules and does not require a job offer or sponsorship.

Eligibility Requirements

• Completed an Eligible Course: Applicants must have successfully completed an eligible undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree, or other approved qualification from a UK higher education provider with a track record of compliance.
• Current Student Visa: Applicants must have a valid Student Visa at the time of application.
• Residency Requirements: Applicants must have completed the course in the UK and studied in the UK for at least 12 months (if the course is longer than 12 months) or the full duration (if the course is 12 months or less). Exceptions may apply for remote study during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Application Process

• Application Submission: The Graduate Visa application is made online, and applicants can apply from within the UK.
• Supporting Documents: A valid passport, Biometric Residence Permit (BRP), and confirmation from the education provider that the course has been completed successfully.
• Fees: The application fee is currently £715, and applicants must pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), typically £624 per year, which allows access to the NHS.

Visa Duration and Conditions

• Length of Stay: Graduates with an undergraduate or master’s degree can stay for up to two years, while PhD or doctoral graduates can stay for up to three years.
• Work Rights: The Graduate Visa permits full-time work, including self-employment, freelance work, and taking jobs at any skill level.
• Restrictions: The visa does not allow access to public funds, and it cannot be extended. However, holders can switch to other long-term visas, such as the Skilled Worker Visa, if they meet the requirements.

After the Graduate Visa

• Switching to Other Visa Types: Graduate Visa holders can apply to switch to a Skilled Worker Visa or other relevant visa categories if they secure a job offer that meets the necessary criteria.
