The Home Office has announced that, effective 6 April 2024, sponsors will no longer be required to renew their sponsor licences.

This means that if your sponsor licence is set to expire on or after this date, you will not need to apply for renewal or pay a renewal fee.

Great news! Your sponsor licence expiring on or after April 6, 2024, is automatically extended by 10 years. You don’t need to renew it – the Home Office has already taken care of it. If you already applied to renew your licence, the Home Office will contact you directly to arrange a refund of your renewal fee.If you received a renewal reminder, you can disregard it.

Check your sponsor licence expiry date
While renewals are automatic, you can still access your sponsor licence application date on the Sponsorship Management System (SMS). You can find it in licence summery section.Diarise this date and share it with key licence personnel for future reference.

The automatic extension eliminates the need for renewals every four years, saving you both time and money.

Even though renewals are automatic, sponsor compliance remains a top priority for the Home Office. Employers should still be prepared to meet their sponsorship obligations.
