Fiancee Visa

The UK Fiancé Visa is intended for individuals engaged to British or Irish citizens, those settled in the UK, people with pre-settled status, holders of Turkish Businessperson or Worker visas, and those with refugee or humanitarian protection. It allows them to come to the UK to marry within six months of arrival. Applications for this visa must be made from outside the UK.
While the Fiancé Visa does not immediately grant the right to settle in the UK, once married, you can apply from within the UK to switch to a Spouse Visa. The Spouse Visa provides a pathway to indefinite leave to remain (ILR) or settlement after five years.

Eligibility
To be eligible for a UK Fiancé Visa, you must demonstrate to UK Visas and Immigration that you meet the following criteria:

  • Your partner is either British or Irish, settled in the UK, holds pre-settled status, has a Turkish Businessperson or Worker visa, or has refugee or humanitarian protection.
  • Both you and your partner are over 18 years old.
  • You have met each other in person.
  • Your relationship is genuine and ongoing.
  • You intend to marry within six months of arriving in the UK.
  • Any previous relationships have permanently ended.
  • You plan to live together permanently in the UK.
  • You can support yourselves financially in the UK without relying on public funds.
  • Suitable accommodation is available for you and any dependents.
  • You have the required level of English language proficiency.

Both you and your partner must be over 18 years old at the time you submit your Fiancé Visa application.

Intention to Marry in the UK Within Six Months
The Fiancé Visa is issued for six months, during which you are expected to marry in the UK. To meet this requirement, you must show the Home Office that you genuinely intend to marry within this period. This typically involves providing evidence of wedding planning or arrangements for the ceremony, which can include bookings, invitations, or other documentation confirming your plans
